Nobody Outside Of The Matrix Has Ever Dodged A Bullet Quite Like The Eagles Not Trading For Russell Wilson

Rarely does it feel that Philly sports teams ever catch a break. You think about all the free agency signings, trades, and draft picks over the years that have blown up in our faces. I'm thinking about guys like Nnamdi Asomugha, Andrew Bynum, and Ilya Bryzgalov. I'm thinking about draft picks like Markelle Fultz over Jayson Taytum, Nolan Patrick over Cale Makar, Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson. It just seems like far more often then not, Philly sports teams are left holding the shit end of the stick. There are far too many moments where we wish we could go back and do things completely differently if we had a chance to do them again.

I have a feeling the fine folks in Denver are probably wishing that right now after trading two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, a 5th round pick, and a few different players for Russell Wilson AND THEN turning around and giving him a year, $245 million contract extension. All for this dude right here.

Talk about one of your all-time fuck ups. A fuck up which the Eagles came dangerously close to making themselves.

Howie Roseman, you son of a bitch, you did it! Well…you didn't do it! Not necessarily on your own accord, but still. There were people in this city who were legitimately devastated that the Eagles couldn't pull off a trade for Russ. Now sit back, close your eyes, and try to envision a world where this guy is your starting QB right now over Jalen Hurts.

Meanwhile Jalen Hurts was the NFC Offensive Player of the Month in September, looks to somehow be exceeding all expectations of how much of a leader he is in the locker room, has the Eagles heading into week 5 as the only undefeated team in the league, and is still just 24-years-old making just over a million dollars this year.

Make sure you thank the Sports Gods when you go to bed at night that Russell Wilson nixed that trade. And also make sure to show how much you appreciate the fact that Jalen Hurts is still our quarterback by purchasing a shirt or 5.

Go Birds.
